10 Gallon Planted Aquarium - 2007

This album contains pictures of a 10 gallon planted freshwater aquarium that I started and maintained during the year 2007. Photographs are sorted in order of growth progress from initial planting to the end result a few months later.

Hydrocotyle leucocephala

These are a few shots of Hydrocotyle leucocephala when it was first introduced to my 35 gallon tall freswater aquarium. Click any thumbnail to enlarge picture.

Garden Box

My garden experiment is a 4 x 10 box with a depth of 12 inches. I built this because most of my yard is shaded by large Oak and evergreen trees. I haven't had much success in past summers due to all this shade. I am left with only a few spots of yard where there is actually enough sunlight through the day to possibly grow a vegetable garden. Due to the small size of the area, I didn't want to bother tilling it. A garden box also allowed for easy maintenance. Here are some pictures of the box and its growth.

Photo of the Day (#5)

Aquarium Upgrade
10G to 20G Freshwater
5/7/2008

Converted a 10 gallon planted aquarium (pictured here) to a 20 gallon tall. This is the new aquarium early in February 08, after clay turbidity had finally started to subside. Unfortunately, the beautiful "Baby Tears" plants did not survive the transition.
